Christopher Malloy, Director, Senior Attorney
Chris Malloy began serving University of Iowa Students at Student Legal Services in May of 2012. A 2004 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, Chris practiced criminal and civil law in state and federal courts in Madison, Wisconsin before moving to Iowa. Chris also formerly taught undergraduate courses in Business Law and Criminal Law as an adjunct faculty member at the Upper Iowa University Madison center, and studied international law at the University of Paris-Assas in Paris, France. He is a member of the Iowa and Wisconsin Bar Associations and the Order of the Coif, and serves as Adjunct Faculty at University of Iowa College of Law. In addition to English, he speaks French and Spanish, and in his spare time he enjoys running and reading.
Amanda Elkins, Assistant Director, Attorney
Amanda Elkins began serving University of Iowa students at Student Legal Services in September of 2014. She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2010 and served as a Student Legal Services intern during law school. Amanda worked in private practice and as a judicial law clerk before returning to SLS as an attorney. She is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and Coralville Public Library Board of Trustees, and serves as a Prisoner Advocate on the University’s Institutional Review Boards. In her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, gardening, and kayaking.
Rachel Korach Howell, Office Manager
Rachel Korach Howell is a UofI Theatre Arts graduate, originally hailing from the East Coast. Outside of her administrative experience, Rachel is a co-founder of Fourth Room Theatre and has worked with the majority of theatre companies in the Corridor. She’s directed for Giving Tree Theater, ICCT, and for the Brucemore’s Classics production. She has also directed for the UI Theatre Department’s nationally renowned New Play Festival and Gallery series. Rachel writes on and off for Iowa City’s Little Village Magazine and of her original plays, Horatio’s Purgatory won the 2011 Iowa AACTFest & Regional Alternate awards. Rachel is pleased to be a part of such an inclusive, supportive, and motivated office, and to be in a position of service to the many students attending here.
Katie Santangelo, Senior Outreach Coordinator
Katie Santangelo is a senior biomedical engineering student from Homer Glen, Illinois. She is the Vice President of the University of Iowa’s Engineering Student Council and the Midwest Marketing and Communications Coordinator of the National Association of Engineering Student Councils (NAESC). In her free time, Katie enjoys painting, hiking, and playing with her two pugs.
